FastFont Bitmap Font Generator (FBM)
The FastFont to Bitmap Font Generator (FBM.EXE) is provided for those developers that just want a quick way to generate HP PCL soft fonts for distribution with their applications. FBM generates HP PCL bitmap fonts (.SFP/.SPL) from PageTech's proprietary FastFont scalable typeface format (.FF1). The Type Importer is included with FBM to convert TrueType and PostScript Type I and Type III fonts into our FastFont format. AllType can also convert scalable fonts into FastFont format.
The FBM Flowchart reveals the selection process and the resulting outputs. First, you have to choose which FastFont to convert into HP PCL (.SFP) bitmap font format at 300 dpi.
The FastFont Bitmap Font Generator (FBM) and Typeface Library comes with 7 typeface families that may be used to create user-defined download bitmap fonts in various HP LaserJet and DeskJet formats.

FBM, a utility that scales the FastFont typefaces to create any size portrait or landscape soft font that may be downloaded to your compatible HP LaserJet or HP DeskJet Printer.
FBM can generate all Typefaces into the Following Styles:

WINFMOVE, a utility to convert the Base14 Windows core set of typefaces (Arial, Times New Roman, etc.) into FastFont format for scaling to bitmap fonts.
TYPE IMPORTER (TI) is also included for converting TrueType and PostScript fonts into FastFont format for scaling into bitmap fonts. Two font downloading utilities are also included.
DOWNFILE is a font downloading utility for testing download bitmap fonts.
HPDOWNLD is a command line driven font downloading utility that can be bundled with the generated download bitmap fonts for distribution to third parties.
Bitmap font editing is often necessary for lower resolution and/or small point size fonts to fine tune screen fonts. In order to "fine tune" the bit maps generated you must use a font editor, like Jamestown Software's QFont.
The FBM utility is sold as a standalone, single unit product and is not for distribution to third parties... only the bitmap fonts generated can be distributed royalty-free. The source code for FBM is included with the FastFont Typeface Manager SDK (US$495 - ask for information).
The price for FBM with Type Importer is US$249. FBM is sold on a non-refundable "as is" basis, so ask all your questions prior to purchase. There is NO DEMO AVAILABLE for FBM, but a sample font can be generated upon receipt of a .TTF or .PFB typeface, as a zipped attachment. Provide the point size, style, weight and symbol set required.
